Human Research Ethics Approval number: ETH2023-0117
Description
The purpose of this project is to study how much caregivers know about keeping their children safe from button battery injuries, by asking questions about how caregivers prevent button battery injuries within the home. The results of the survey can be used to create programs and materials to prevent button battery injuries in the future, as it will help us understand what information and support caregivers need to help them prevent this injury from occurring in their home.
Participation
Your participation will involve completion of an online survey questionnaire that will take approximately 10-15 minutes of your time.
Questions will include how you prevent your children from accessing button batteries within your home, how you monitor for products containing button batteries, and how you feel about the danger of button batteries.
Your participation in this project is entirely voluntary. You can withdraw at any point whilst filling out the survey, however once submitted you will be unable to withdraw your responses.
Please note: This survey is open to Australian Residents only.
Benefits
It is expected that this project will not directly benefit you. However, it may benefit caregivers and children in helping to prevent button battery injuries in the future.
Risks
In participating in the questionnaire there are no anticipated risks beyond normal day-to-day living.
Sometimes thinking about the sorts of issues raised in the questionnaire can create some uncomfortable or distressing feelings.
